The Ateneo de Manila University's Development Studies Program and the Philippine Social Enterprise Network hosted a Conference on Social Entrepreneurship in 2009 entitled, Negosyo Para Sa Iba, Negosyong Kakaiba, Negosyo Ka Nga Ba? The conference gathered 240 participants from civil society, government, business and academe to dialogue on various Social Entrepreneurship definitions and models, assess the impact of Social Entrepreneurship on poverty, and present a Social Entrepreneurship Quality Index.

The 2011 conference entitled Issues and Challenges of Philippine Social Entrepreneurship tackled four key challenges faced by Philippine social enterprises: the challenges involved in community and social enterprise partnerships, the challenge of scaling up, the challenge of assessing social impact and the challenges presented by the policy environment that social enterprises face.
